Harun Yahya is Turkey's best-known and most assertive critic of evolution

The 9 November, 2009, issue of Times of Oman, which has been in publication since 1975, is the Sultanate of Oman’s oldest English-language newspaper and attracts millions of visitors to its web site every week, carried a report titled “In Turkey, fertile ground for creationism.” The report stated that Adnan Oktar was the most assertive proponent of Creationism in Turkey and that the number of believers in evolution in the country was in rapid decline:

"Darwin is the worst fascist there has ever been, and the worst racist history has ever witnessed," writes Harun Yahya...
The most visible Turkish proponent of creationism is named Adnan Oktar, who writes and appears daily on his own two-hour television show under the alias Harun Yahya. In 2006, Oktar created an international stir when his book of high-quality fossil images reached to biology teachers worldwide.

Adnan Oktar, who as Harun Yahya is Turkey's best-known and most assertive critic of evolution, says he is "following the path of Allah."

Atlas of Creation: A Book That Demolishes Darwinism and Materialism - 08.10.2009 Bangladesh/The New Nation

The New Nation, an independent Bangladeshi news service, carried a report on 8 October, 2009, that noted the need to change the Darwinism-based education system in Europe.  Headed "Education Policy Should Respond to our Cultural Values," the report announced that Harun Yahya’s Atlas of Creation had challenged this system of compulsion and described the impact the work had had in Europe:

For instance, EU education policy is based on atheism or in other words, Darwinism. Recently an amazingly and meticulously organized book, named Atlas of Creation published by Harun Yahya of Turkey. This book clearly argues against Evolution theory. After reading this book, students, teachers, scientists become confused what they were being taught in school. This book stimulated strong discussion among intellectuals in all over Europe. At the end, Atlas of Creation is banned from France (the birth place of atheism), since it may devaluate their guiding ideology in the long run. EU education policy makers are worried and have devised a plan how to tackle this issue and made a guideline.

Atlas of Creation’s exposure of the true face of Darwinism came as a lethal blow to the ideologies of European countries that are dominated by materialist thinking. So taken aback were they by the Atlas of Creation that decisions were taken in France and Belgium to ban it, in a move reminiscent of the Middle Ages and fascism. Such fear of an idea and the resulting panic definitely confirmed the convincing nature of the Atlas of Creation and the transparency of the way its ideas are set out. Because the Atlas of Creation is not the first or only book in Europe to criticize the theory of evolution. Yet the Atlas of Creation’s clear exposition of scientific evidence accessible to even a primary school student and its demonstration of the existence of Allah with the use of highly rational language was regarded as a serious threat. However, this tendency to ban the Atlas of Creation actually led to its becoming better known in Europe and to its attracting a wider readership, especially among European youth, wishing to learn the true facts from the Internet. Indeed, the report in question described how students are now making a stand against the lies of evolution imposed on them in the classroom:

These days teachers have to face students questioning against evolution theory where teachers can't answer properly. That's why it is becoming a big problem …

'Who is the most influential Muslim in the world?' - 17.11.2009 United Kingdom/Reuters

 

Mr.Adnan Oktar has been included among the list of figures active in the field of science and technology in the book The 500 Most Influential Muslims, published by Georgetown University in USA. The listing in the book said:

TURKEY / YAHYA, HARUN

Writing under the pen name Harun Yahya, Adnan Oktar has gained international prominence as a spokesperson for creationism but garners influence from his numerous and extensively distributed publications about Islam, and Islamic children’s books.

Reuters, the world’s leading news agency, carried a report on the book on its web site on November 17, 2009, headed "POLL: The world’s top 500 Muslims?" Tom Heneghan, from the Reuters Paris office, sought an answer to the question “Who is the most influential Muslim in the world?" by publishing a new poll. Some 2 million people voted in the poll, with 41% of respondents replying "Adnan Oktar" and 2% "Harun Yahya," thus declaring Mr. Oktar to be the most influential Muslim in the world.

A report on the Reuters news agency web site dated 5 October, 2009, referred to the growing influence of Creationist belief. The report stressed the impact of the works of Harun Yahya in this:

So why do we "report the controversy"... We do it because creationists are numerous... They’re challenging science teaching... and opening museums that claim to prove evolution never happened. We also do it because their influence is spreading to other countries, most notably to Muslim countries through the work of Islamic creationists like Harun Yahya. And we do it because their arguments... challenge scientists... philosophers and other thinkers to refine their arguments... Attempts to wedge them into high school biology lessons miss the mark by a mile.
