This report described Harun Yahya as an “international hero.”
The 22 April 2001 issue of the world-renowned New Scientist, which investigated creationist movements throughout the world, offered this interpretation of Harun Yahya and his books:
[Harun Yahya] is an international hero. His books have spread everywhere in the Islamic world. He has developed his own Islamic creationism.
The World, a weekly program jointly produced by the BBC, PRI and WGBH, carried a broadcast on the subject of the rejection of the theory of evolution in the Islamic world on 11 December 2008. In the program, broadcast by 218 radio stations in the USA, Salman Hameed, a British academic of Pakistani origins, discussed the impact of the works of Harun Yahya in that context:
"Currently THE DEBATE IS BEING SHAPED by creationists in the Islamic world. THE MOST PROMINENT ONE IS HARUN YAHYA IN TURKEY. And he links evolution with atheism and also with the West. Everything that is wrong with the West he ascribes that to the acceptance of evolution... Many of the participants that I have talked to in my lectures here [in Pakistan] they usually cite Harun Yahya’s work."
Asked by the presenter "Is he influential?," Hameed replied:
"He has an enormous reach. In fact his books are widely available not only in the Muslim world, but also in the Muslim diaspora, for example in Europe, in England. His documentaries are shown on television everyday and recently he sent out this 850 page Atlas… HE HAS A TREMENDOUS INFLUENCE at present regarding evolution. THE MOST PROMINENT VOICE we have in the Islamic world is that of creationist Harun Yahya."
On 8 December 2008 the Bulgarian daily Dnevnik carried an interview Svetoslav Stefanov had conducted with Adnan Oktar. The paper, which emphasized the impact of Adnan Oktar’s Atlas of Creation, published the interview under the caption, “Darwinism Will Be Consigned to the Dusty Shelves of History in Future Years.”

The Manila Times, the oldest national English-daily in the Philippines, published in the capital Manila since 1898, carried an article titled “Islamic Creationism” on 22 February, 2009. Written by Rony V. Diaz, the article said that with his "delightful looking Atlas of Creation" Adnan Oktar, described as a Muslim creationist, had made great progress in causing evolution to be questioned in Muslim countries. It particularly emphasized that the main reason for the author’s opposition to the theory of evolution is that in the form of materialism and atheism, evolution represents a grave social and cultural danger. The article also said that the levels of people believing in evolution were very low in public opinion polls conducted in Muslim countries.

"The start of a high-powered Vatican-sponsored acadmeic conference on evolution was anything but fossilized.
The third STOQ International Conference, called Biological Evolution, Facts and Theories, began on Tuesday at the Pontifical Gregorian University (picture right) under the patronage of the Vatican’s Pontifical Council for Culture.
The conference, which has been organised together with the University of Notre Dame to mark the 200th anniversary of the birth of Charles Darwin, had barely gotten underway when charges of censorship and undemocratic and unacademic behaviour began flying.
At the end of the first session Oktar Babuna, a Turkish doctor and collaborator of prominent Turkish anti-Darwin campaigner Harun Yahya,asked for the floor to put forward a question. Babuna, a proponent of the Islamic creationist campaign against evolution, spoke about his view that there were insufficient transitional forms from species to species to support the theory of evolution.
After he began speaking two professors on the dias, Francisco J. Ayala of the University of California at Irvine and Douglas Futuyma of the State University of New York were visibly irritated. Someone in the hall can be heard saying “turn the microphone off” and seconds later two organisers approached Babuna. One of them abruptly took the microphone away from Babuna and another ordered him to go back to his seat. Watch it all here
“After I walked back to my seat someone said “only evolutionists can ask questions,” Babuna told Reuters afterwards. “This is very anti-democratic and very unacademic. If this is a scientific meeting … if you have scientific questions to ask, they should be responded to scientifically, everybody accepts that … if you force people to shut up and don’t let them ask any question … then it is not a scientific theory but an ideology.” The spat was filmed by Babuna’s associate Dr Cihat Gundogdu, who put an edited version on the Harun Yahya website.
Both men attended the conference with English and Italian versions of Harun Yahya’s super-slick mega-book Atlas of Creation (picture left) in hand. Al Rai, Kuwait’s largest Arabic-language daily, carried praise for Harun Yahya’s struggle against Darwinism in its column page in its 1 December, 2008, edition. At the same time, Dr. Mohammed Al Awathi, a presenter on Al Rai television, said in his back page column that Adnan Oktar should be given an award for his contributions to Islam and that the works of Harun Yahya should be translated into Chinese for the struggle against Darwinism in China. The article went on to say the following about the works of Harun Yahya:
Every year in the month of Ramadan the Dubai government awards a prize to an individual or institution for their services to Islam... Every year, the organizers ask me months in advance for names to whom the Islamic Personality Award might be given. I mentioned the Turkish scholar who writes under the pen name Harun Yahya. Born in Ankara in 1956, he studied in the fine arts department of Mimar Sinan University and in the philosophy department of Istanbul University. Most of the books he has published since 1980 have been about politics, science or faith. Harun Yahya writes about the erroneous nature of the theory of evolution; he discusses the origin of life, how the first cell formed and the invalidity of the theory of evolution. He says there is a link between Darwinism and bloody ideologies. His books have been translated into English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Albanian, Arabic, Polish, Russian, Indonesian, Bosnian, Tatar and Urdu and have been published in those countries. Harun Yahya sends his books to a great many people, Muslim or otherwise, and irrespective of their age, ethnic origin or nationality. He explains the existence of God with verses from the Qur’an...
I saw Harun Yahya’s brief programs during Ramadan. His excellently printed books are very impressive, full of colored illustrations and scientific diagrams. His books include; The Miracle of Hormones, The Miracle in the Cell. Photosynthesis; The Green Miracle, The Design in Nature, Devotion Among Animals: Revealing the Work of God, The Miracle of Creation in Plants, Deep Thinking, Magnificence Everywhere, Timelessness And The Reality Of Fate. Harun Yahya’s films include Islam Denounces Terrorism, The Collapse of Materialism, The End of Darwinism, The Architects in Nature and The Splendor in the Seas. Sad to say, I only saw three of Harun Yahya’s books at the book fair, which is due to end on Saturday, and am now looking for a copy of his The Disasters Darwinism Brought to Humanity...
Tribune de Genève, the daily published in the Swiss canton of Geneva, once again raised the impact of the Atlas of Creation on 6 February, 2009. Published in French and with a readership of 175,000, the paper referred to the effect of the Atlas of Creation in the words "Switzerland has not been spared this ‘invasion’.” The cover story went to on to describe the heavy blows made Darwinism suffer in Europe:
These days CREATIONIST IDEAS... CONTINUE TO EXPAND THEIR SPHERE OF INFLUENCE... TURKS ARE LEADING THE MUSLIM WORLD (in activities against the theory of evolution). Since 2007, a weighty book (around 8 kilos), the Atlas of Creation, written by a Turk called Harun Yahya, whose real name is Adnan Oktar... seeks to prove with photographs of fossils that evolution never happened.
A SERIOUS OFFENSIVE AGAINST DARWIN IS TAKING PLACE. This Turkish group leaves nothing to chance. Adnan Oktar, a most extraordinary character, has great strength...
IT IS NOW THE TURN OF EUROPE, which was for long unaffected by these movements, TO BE AFFECTED BY THE CREATIONIST WAVE FOLLOWING THE APPEARANCE OF HARUN YAHYA’S BOOK. For example, one of these countries is Britain; many conferences have been held in both state schools and universities in Britain.
Creationist views now have the wind in their sails. AND SWITZERLAND HAS NOT BEEN SPARED THIS ‘INVASION’.” In 2007, creationist theory appeared alongside the theory of evolution for t he first time in school text books... The campaign of the opponents of evolution does not seem likely to end soon.

The Tehran Times, Iran’s first English-language daily, published an interview given by Adnan Oktar to Kourosh Ziabari on 9 February, 2009. The paper, which attracts more than 10,000 visitors to its web site every day is one of the main sources the international press rely on for news out of Iran. (You can read the full text of the interview here.) The interview published in the paper appeared under the title "Harun Yahya: Darwinism is the root of terrorism, Islam is the antidote." Mr. Adnan Oktar's reply to a question about the reasons for the moral collapse taking place in the 21st century read:
Muslims are generally unaware where the troubles are coming from. In fact, people in the world as a whole are unaware of the essence of the matter. When I investigated it I saw that Darwinism lay at the root of all this suffering, trouble, violence and pain as there would be no materialism without Darwinism.
Darwinism is essential for materialist philosophy and without materialism there can be no communism, fascism, imperialism, savage capitalism, nor immorality nor terror. These are all inter-related, but because people are ignorant of that, they fail to grasp the importance of the intellectual struggle against Darwinism.
“Why is it so important, why do you concentrate on it so much?” they say. Atheism is active right across the world, hurting and literally damning people. But they do not look for the root cause. Yet Darwinism is the foundation of irreligiousness, of all atheist ideologies, and thus of all these troubles. I have gone right to the root of the matter and struck at the root of atheism in my work. It is this that lies at the heart of Darwinists’ own suffering and the savagery in the materialist universe. In other words, by Allah’s leave, I have severed the jugular, the main artery of atheism. As Darwinism has collapsed, materialists have of course lost their respect for their own beliefs. It is no longer possible for people to be materialists. That is why, if Muslims want to fight atheism, they must wage an intellectual struggle against the religion of atheism.
They can make use of the www.harunyahya.com web site for that. They can download all the books, documentaries and articles on the site free of charge and make use of them. They must raise their own knowledge, understanding, culture and reveal the invalidity of Darwinism one by one with scientific evidence. You will then see that all these problems you listed will disappear. The truth will come and falsehood will vanish, insha’Allah.
On 11 February, 2009, the Religion News news agency, which concentrates mainly on religious matters, carried the views of a British Darwinist teacher of Pakistani origin on the subject of Islamic Creationism. Some passages from the interview regarding the impact of Harun Yahya’s works on the rise in belief in Creationism read as follows:
“... in recent visits to his homeland [Pakistan], Hameed, 38, has DISCOVERED A CONTRARY THEORY RAPIDLY GAINING GROUND: ISLAMIC CREATIONISM.
CHAMPIONED BY prolific Turkish author HARUN YAHYA, THIS GROWING MOVEMENT SURPRISED WESTERN SCIENTISTS AND ACADEMICS IN 2007, WHEN THEY BEGAN RECEIVING ... COPIES OF Yahya's colorful, 850-page "ATLAS OF CREATION." ...
Q: How did Islamic creationism come to your attention?
A: When I was visiting Pakistan in the late 1990s, I started seeing Harun Yahya's work everywhere, with special sections in very good bookstores devoted to his books. These are glossy, expensive books, sold very cheaply. ...
We do not have a central pope-like authority, especially in Sunni Islam... AT THE PRESENT TIME, THE MOST DOMINANT VOICE WE HAVE IS FROM CREATIONISTS LIKE HARUN YAHYA, ... LINKING [EVOLUTION] PURELY WITH ATHEISM. ...”
On 22 February, 2009, The Mail on Sunday, one of Britain’s most popular newspapers with a circulation of over 2 million, carried a preview of Andrew Marr's BBC2 film "Darwin's Dangerous Idea" to be shown on BBC 2. The presenter on the film, Andrew Marr, set out his ideas that arose before his meeting with Adnan Oktar:
“... Millions of Muslims, as well as Christians - half the people of Britain, according to one survey - reject Darwin's teaching. One author even asserts Darwinists were responsible for 9/11.
... Another place we visited was Istanbul, where TURKISH AUTHOR ADNAN OKTAR has some claim to be AMONG THE MOST INFLUENTIAL CREATIONISTS ON THE PLANET.
He argues that Darwinism is by its very nature a violent creed because of its insistence on the importance of conflict or struggle. For this Muslim, who wants to convert Europe to Islam, the 9/11 terrorists 'were in reality Darwinists'.”

La Presse, one of Canada’s highest circulation dailies, published in French in Montreal ever since 1884, carried an article describing the rise of belief in Creation in Europe. An article in the 10 February, 2009, issue referred to the impact of Adnan Oktar’s works as follows:
... Adnan Oktar (pen name Harun Yahya) of Turkish origins... the author of 200 documentaries, and 300 books translated into 60 different languages and with 200 web sites. He has succeeded in spreading creationism widely in Turkey... Oktar has targeted the whole of Europe, and is doing this particularly with his showy book called the Atlas of Creation. But he concentrates on France in particular, because if he can make himself accepted in a country with powerful non-religious roots, then he believes his cause will have been successful.
Reports in the French press say that belief in Creation is spreading widely, despite all the obstacles. Teachers are reporting difficult moments in class in the face of anti-Darwin objections. Darwinist-materialist circles are literally in mourning over the way the French have lost with a single book – the Atlas of Creation - a philosophy they have espoused for 150 years.

On 7 February, 2009, Le Monde, one of France’s best known dailies, carried an article titled “A Move against Religion.” The report in the paper, which has a circulation of around 400,000, once again raised the impact in France of the Atlas of Creation, and described the reaction of French students to the theory of evolution being taught in classes:
Adam is described in the Qur’an as being created from earth, and the majority of Muslims believe that Adam and Eve existed in Paradise before coming to Earth. That is why the theory of evolution is seldom taught in Muslim countries. Even in France the great majority of young Muslims share that view and make the following statement when they learn about the theory of evolution in schools: “I AM WRITING WHAT THE THEORY OF EVOLUTION SAYS HERE, BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT THE COURSE DEMANDS, BUT I DO NOT BELIEVE IT…”
Moving on to the subject of Creationism… HARUN YAHYA, the famous Turkish author of the Atlas of Creation distributed in France… THE GLOBAL LEADER OF MUSLIM CREATIONISM…
An Islamic view to the effect that many scientific discoveries are written in the Qur’an has emerged in an intensive manner. One can come across such statements in French and English on the television, in books and on web sites. These popular opinions attract the interest of the young in particular… One senior political figure made the following statement during a conference in Algeria: “A significant number of researchers and scientists agree that their findings are also to be found in the Qur’an.”

Spiegel Online, a leading German news portal attracting more than 90 million visits a month, raised the matter of belief in Creation in the words "Europe has its own hardcore creationists ... too. Increasingly, they are making their voices heard..." The report, titled "European Creationists Take On Darwin," described how the theory of evolution is increasingly losing support, even in Britain, the theory’s homeland, saying, "the majority of British have their doubts about evolution."
The report also noted how the Council of Europe regarded Harun Yahya's Atlas of Creation and its presence in schools as a threat. Of course the Atlas of Creation is a threat to the Darwinist education system that had deceived Europe for a century and a half. Because the Atlas of Creation has been sufficient all by itself to reveal that evolution is a hoax and to bring the true facts into the light of day. Anyone reading the Atlas of Creation or just browsing a few pages can see the manifest evidence of Creation and immediately understand the truth. That is why Darwinists are right to fear the Atlas of Creation, although the book is spreading in unstoppable waves. One can see this effect with every passing day in Europe, in the rising numbers of believers in Allah and Creation.

Some of the issues emphasized by Adnan Oktar in the interview are as follows:

It is always Darwinists today that espouse the killing of the innocent, terror, and anarchy in the supposed name of Islam.”
Adnan Oktar also stated that this Darwinist oppression would end with the coming of Hazrat Mahdi (as) in the End Times:
“But our Prophet says that after that, ‘all this will be reversed with the appearance of Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh), one of my children, and that there will come an age of well-being, abundance, peace, plenty, gentleness, and beauty.’”

On 2 March, 2009, La Vanguardia, Spain’s highest circulation daily, carried the notes from Ricardo Gines's interview with Adnan Oktar.
The report was titled "TURKEY REJECTS DARWIN” and went on to say:
Adnan Oktar, the leader of Islamic creationism, warns that evolution constitutes a barrier between Allah and man... A new movement is increasingly gathering many followers: Islamic creationism.
Adnan Oktar, the leader of Islamic creationism, says that evolution represents a barrier between Allah and man…
In his recent interview with La Vanguardia, the powerful creationist Adnan Oktar said, "DARWINISM HAS DESTROYED PEOPLE’S LOVE FOR THE CREATOR AND LED THE WORLD TO A NEW DARK AGE.”
During our conversation Oktar suggested that, "When we look at Marxism, fascism and capitalism we see that Darwinism lies at the root of all these beliefs... It is that which makes people unhappy and wretched today.” People who read Oktar’s books in languages such as Urdu, Arabic, Russian, Serbo-Croat, Spanish and English in countries like India, Indonesia, Turkey and Poland say it is impossible to remain immune to this call.
THE COVERT ADMIRATION STATEMENTS FOR THE WORLDWIDE EFFECT OF HARUN YAHYA IN THE NEW HUMANIST, THE MAJOR JOURNAL OF ATHEISTS&DARWINISTS
In its September/October 2009 issue, New Humanist magazine published by The Rationalist Association in England with atheist and Darwinists members including Richard Dawkins covered the worldwide anti-Darwinist works of Mr. Adnan Oktar. Despite the delusive libelous statements employed as a method of psychological warfare engaged by the freemasonry, the protector of Darwinism and materialism, they had to admit the worldwide effect of Mr. Adnan Oktar.
Some of the covert admiration statements about Adnan Oktar that are encountered between the lines are as follows:

Following the publication of Atlas of Creation, the British nation, for the first time, started to seriously query the evolution theory and, in the face of the cogent evidence, has been convinced of the fallacy of Darwinism. In the face of the solid and irrefutable evidence in Mr. Oktar’s works the theory of evolution has been utterly defeated and the whole world has witnessed this fact. It is said thus: "Muslim creationism is becoming increasingly visible and confident… Richard Dawkins himself recognises the impact of this new phenomenon: "There has been a sharp upturn in hostility to teaching evolution in the classroom and it’s mostly coming from Islamic students.""

... Yahya is feted by extreme orthodox Sanhedrin Rabbis in Israel for his anti-atheism, and has ambitions to create a Turkish-Islamic union, a new Ottoman Empire girdling the world from Eastern Russia to Western Nigeria, which would unify the Islamic world under Turkish leadership.
In 1998 the Science and Research Foundation, the group Oktar had formed in 1990, launched its campaign against Darwinism… paving the way for the Atlas of Creation and Oktar’s new role as the spokesman for Muslim creationism.
Retired Senator Steve Symms, who described it as “a major influence for good among the younger population of Turkey” and praised its “commitment to democracy, preservation of national and moral values, and respect for law”.
Since then Oktar has become an ardent proponent of interfaith dialogue, attempting to unify believers of all stripes against the corrupting influence of Darwinism, which he now holds responsible for Fascism, anti-Semitism and the Holocaust. Most recently, he has been talking about the “Turkish-Islamic Union”…

The 22 June, 2007, issue of Tribune de Genève, a daily published in the Swiss canton of Geneva, carried an article about the Atlas of Creation. The report stated that in addition to France and Belgium, Atlas of Creation had also been disseminated in Switzerland. The arrival in Europe of Atlas of Creation was described as an “anti-Darwin movement” in the report, which went on to say:
The counter-attack that criticized the theory of evolution has now landed in the Old World... The Council of Europe report says that schools are particular targets in the spread of the belief that the world and man were created by God... Let us make this clear, nothing could be more alarming than this; although the theory of evolution would appear to have put down deep roots in European culture... The result of a study carried out last year by Science magazine revealed that evolution is by no means in an unshakeable position in our continent.
The clear presentation in the Atlas of Creation of evidence that demolishes the theory of evolution and the growth of Creationist belief in Europe have been met by enormous panic. However, it is clear that the evidence of the existence of Allah cannot be concealed by any lie or superstitious belief. The reason behind this panic is that evolutionist fraud that has deceived people under the guise of science has now been brought out into the daylight in this giant work by Harun Yahya.
Eleftherotypia, one of Greece’s highest-circulation dailies with a social democratic viewpoint has made news on Mr. Adnan Oktar’s book, Atlas of Creation, on its 7 September, 2009 issue. The report described how the book, 800 pages long and weighing 7 kilos, has reached to schools in many European countries such as France, Spain and Germany, and emphasized how author’s works are in great demand by millions of readers.
On 8 November, 2009, The Washington Post, published in Washington DC and enjoying a global readership as a well-established political daily, carried a report titled “In Turkey, fertile ground for creationism.” The Washington Post, one of America’s three leading dailies with its circulation of around 1 million, carried extracts from an interview with Mr. Adnan Oktar, once again noting the effect of the works of Harun Yahya in the rejection of the theory of evolution:
... creationism ... [has] blossomed within Muslim Turkey... Turks have aggressively made the case that Charles Darwin's theory is scientifically wrong and is the underlying source of most of the world's conflicts because it excludes God from human affairs.
"DARWIN IS THE WORST FASCIST THERE HAS EVER BEEN, AND THE WORST RACIST HISTORY HAS EVER WITNESSED," WRITES HARUN YAHYA, THE MOST ASSERTIVE AND BEST-KNOWN CRITIC OF EVOLUTION IN TURKEY, AND LONG A FAVORITE OF MORE CONSERVATIVE AMERICAN CREATIONISTS.
... The Islamic anti-evolution campaign is taking place in Turkey, and not Egypt or Saudi Arabia...

Pajhwok Afghan News, independent news agency of Afghanistan based in Kabul, published an item about Harun Yahya revealing the lies of the theory of evolution. It was reported that the author has said in one of his interviews, “In ten years time Darwinism will be history and people will only read about Darwinism as a piece of history... Darwinism experienced a solid collapse all over the world... There are 100 million fossils proving this world came into being as a result of God’s creationism and not because of evolution.” The item, which referred to the effect of the Atlas of Creation all over the world, also acknowledged that the author is challenging the theory of evolution.
